Season: From May to December the rains intensify, increasing the flow of the streams, it is likely that there will be precipitation during the activities. From January to April there is usually drought in the area, during this period, the rains decrease considerably, although it is important to note that it is not completely dry, as there may be occasional rains. The climate remains warm, but with less humidity compared to the rainy season.
Vaccines and health recommendations: Although no authority will require you to have a yellow fever vaccination card, it is recommended that you get it if you are traveling to a risk area. The yellow fever vaccine should be applied 10 days before the trip so that the vaccine takes effect on the person and thus the risk of contracting this disease is reduced. The yellow fever vaccine is free and can be applied from the first year of age.
Accommodation: The accommodation is located 100 meters from the entrance to the Fin del Mundo nature reserve, on the road that connects Mocoa with Villagarzón and on the banks of the Pepino River. This location allows for a cool and humid climate. The accommodation is provided in rooms with a view of the jungle or the river, in single, double, triple and quadruple accommodations, with a private bathroom per room. It also has a hammock area, restaurant and parking. There is WiFi and electricity service (some rooms have a Jacuzzi, subject to availability). The entry of sound equipment, speakers or equipment that generates noise is not allowed inside the attraction. (Let's listen to the music of nature instead). The entry of food is not allowed (there is a shop and restaurant inside the attraction). If in any of the places you wish to visit there is no shop or restaurant, we will clarify this when you leave. Do not feed or leave prepared food for wild animals.
Food: The menu in this area of the country is based on proteins such as beef, chicken and river fish, accompanied by rice and green plantain. The drink that accompanies lunch and dinner is usually panela lemonade. Restaurants usually sell beer and other drinks at an additional cost to the package. Vegetarian and vegan menus can be organized depending on the availability of ingredients (generally many grains). These types of menus must be requested when confirming the reservation.
Transportation: The trip from the airport to Dantayaco can be by taxi or bus. The journey to the starting points of the hikes is done in vehicles adapted to the terrain conditions.
Activities: To access the different attractions of the routes to visit, it is necessary to walk. The vehicle leaves you at a point and from there the hiking begins. The duration of the walks can vary between 2 and 5 hours depending on the physical capacity of the walkers. It is recommended to always follow the guide's recommendations and be attentive in each step and movement since you will be traveling through jungle and savannah ecosystems where a variety of local fauna lives.

Sustainability: Putumayo is a fragile and vulnerable territory. It is important to be a responsible traveler and contribute to its conservation. Avoid generating or throwing garbage, take it back home. Make responsible use of natural resources (water, electricity). Respect wildlife and ecosystems. Buying handicrafts is a way to support local communities. Respect the culture and traditions of the local community. Avoid taking pictures of people without their permission. Smoking or drinking alcohol is prohibited during tours in the area.
Traveling with children: Although there is no age restriction for traveling to the destination, it is recommended These trips are not recommended for children over 7 years old. This is not a recommended trip for children under 6 years old, given the activities and daily travel times, as well as the conditions of the accommodations. Children pay the adult rate because they occupy a seat in the vehicles and receive all services during the trip. The walks are not very demanding for people accustomed to nature destinations, but due to the weather conditions, high humidity, temperature and obstacles near the river, they can sometimes be difficult for children.
Traveling with pets: This trip is not suitable for traveling with pets given the activities and daily travel times as well as the conditions of the accommodations, also out of respect for other travelers with whom the tours are shared. However, some hotels do allow pets to stay as long as the owner is responsible for any damage or harm caused to people or facilities during the stay. Please note that it is not possible to take your pet on excursions or activities.
Other travel tips: In Mocoa there are four ATMs from the following banks: BBVA, Bancolombia, Banco Popular and Banco Agrario. It is not very common to use Daviplata or Nequi. There are no exchange offices in Mocoa or in the surrounding municipalities. It is important to inform yourself before traveling if you suffer from any illness or allergies.
