The following itinerary is suggested by the tour operator, there may be changes depending on weather or logistical conditions during the trip:

Day 1 - Arrival in Cumbal:

You will meet your host in the Plaza de Nariño in the city of San Juan de Pasto, to go together to the town of Cumbal , it will be a journey of approximately 2.30 hours. Upon reaching the quiet town located at the foot of the imposing Chiles-Cumbal volcanic complex, you will settle into the hotel to rest. It is necessary that you sleep early and rest because the next day, you will leave at 02:00 am, in a 4x4 vehicle, to the La Ortiga path, the starting point of the ascent walk.

Day 2 - Ascent to the volcano:

Very early you will leave for La Ortiga, the starting point of the ascent hike, where a local guide will also be waiting for you, belonging to the indigenous people of Los Pastos, council of the great Cumbal, who in addition to his years of experience in climbing the Cumbal volcano , will tell us about the history of the volcano, knowledge of the flora and medicinal use of the different plants that are seen on the tour. During the tour you can share snacks. The Cumbal volcano has a height of 4,764 meters and implies a demanding hike, however, it will be rewarded with the tours of the moor, the volcanic landscape and the beautiful panoramic views of several towns in the south of Nariño. Once at the top you will be able to see the crater, its fumaroles and the Laguna de La Bolsa . Lunch at the top, weather permitting. Descent towards La Ortiga, return to Cumbal to rest and collect your luggage and return to Pasto.
