Season: The best time to visit this area is during the dry season, which runs from December to April. During this time, the weather is warmer and sunnier, and there is less rain. If the goal is to go whale watching, it is ideal to travel between July and mid-October. The months of July and August, as well as the end and beginning of the year season (December 20 to January 15), Easter and all the long weekends of the year, there is a large influx of visitors and tourists in the area. If you want to avoid mass tourism, it is suggested to travel on other dates.
Accommodation: The hotel has Wi-Fi in some common areas. However, due to the conditions of the destination, the connection may be intermittent. It will be useful to bring a beach towel or microfibre towel. In the rooms, there is a power supply, which allows you to charge devices such as phones or cameras without any problem. In addition, the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a television and a private bathroom. In the accommodation and in the area the only mobile signal that works is that of Tigo.
Food: The menu in this area of the country is based mainly on sea fish or chicken, accompanied by rice, some soups and plantains. The drink that accompanies lunch and dinner is usually lemonade, fruit juice or water. Vegetarian and vegan menus can be made with local products. There are no restaurants or places to eat near the hotel.
Transport: The tours are carried out in shared boats, motorized vessels authorized by the maritime authority. Life jackets are used throughout the trip. It is recommended to sit in the back and center of the boat, to avoid strong impacts of the boat with the waves and to avoid getting wet. You should not take your hands out to touch the waves or put your hands on the edges of the boat to avoid accidents. It is NOT recommended to take the flights from Medellín to Bahía Solano at 6:00 am and the return flight from Bahía Solano to Medellín at 7:30 am, since due to boat operations it is not possible to operate at that time. If the tickets are taken at 6:00 am, travelers will have to wait until noon for the host to pick them up and take them to the hotel and for the return flight at 7:30 am they would have to leave the day before the end of the experience and spend one night in Bahía Solano on their own to get to the airport on time.
Whale and other wildlife watching: Keep in mind that during whale watching, you may feel nauseous or dizzy, it is recommended to take a medication that helps control these symptoms. You can also wear a raincoat for yourself and your luggage as the waves can get you wet. The Pacific is one of the mating, breeding and feeding sites for humpback whales, for this reason chasing individuals from boats is prohibited; they can only be observed in chance encounters, during which visitors must follow the recommendations according to the regulations. Any observation of the animal is considered a successful sighting: tail, back, fins or jumps. Bird watching requires minimal disturbance, so the use of binoculars is required to admire their behavior and beauty. Under no circumstances should birds be frightened with noises to make them take flight. Do not provide food or leave waste on the trail so as not to alter the diet of the species. In order not to disturb the tranquility of the animal species, the use of flash must be promptly turned off.
Activities: The main activity at the destination is the hike to Playa los Deseos, which is of medium-high physical demand, as it is a long route with some incline on the trail, it is necessary to wear swamp boots. However, there are also additional activities included in the experience such as: the hike to Charco Kevin and a visit to the Nabuga Waterfall.
Sustainability: The Colombian Pacific is a fragile and vulnerable territory. It is important to be a responsible traveler and contribute to its conservation. Avoid generating or throwing away trash, take it back home. Make responsible use of natural resources (drinking water, electricity), which are scarce in the area. Respect wildlife and ecosystems. Buying handicrafts is a way to support local communities. Respect the culture and traditions of the community. Avoid taking photographs of people without their permission.

Other travel tips: This entire area is located in the tropics and has endemic diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. It is recommended to be vaccinated, although no authority will ask for a vaccination card. Carry electronic devices in waterproof cases, as it may rain during the tours.
Travelling with children: Children from 0 to 2 years old (infants) pay a differential rate to cover sea transfers, dock tax and travel insurance. The other services are shared with their parents, otherwise there is an additional cost at the hotel. Although infants are allowed, this is not a recommended trip for children of this age, given the activities and sea travel times. From 3 to 11 years old, children pay a different rate to that of adults. From 12 years old onwards, all services are at an adult rate. These differential rates are shown at the time of booking.
Traveling with pets: The hotel accepts pets with an additional cost (request information at the time of booking) that do not exceed a weight of 15 kilograms. The pet must not be left alone in the room and is NOT allowed to sleep in the beds or use the linen in the rooms. Always use a leash and muzzle (if necessary). The owner of the pet will be responsible for any damage or harm caused to facilities or people. Although pets are allowed, it is suggested not to bring them as there are certain access restrictions to common areas of the hotel and the restaurant.
